Doing What You Feel Like Doing

Doing what we feel like doing when God wants us to do something else is idolatry.

Deuteronomy 12:8: Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes.

Proverbs 12:15: The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

Romans 3:12: They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

2 Chronicles 7:14: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Ezekiel 33:11: Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

Isaiah 53:6: All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Proverbs 16:25: There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

When we do what we feel like doing instead of what God wants us to do, in a sense, we become our own god, we become our own idol. I am sure that I have spent more time doing what I feel like doing than doing what God wants me to do. Thankfully, He has turned me around and helps me to do His will more and more. I want Him to be in complete charge of what I think, what I speak, what I do, where I go and everything else. That is the way it will be in Heaven and I want to make my here and now more Heavenly.

John 15:5a: I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit:

1 Thessalonians 4:1: Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.

The way to abound more and more is to do the will of God more and more and do what we feel like doing less and less.

Colossians 1:10: That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

1 Thessalonians 3:12: And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:

2 Timothy 3:16: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

When we do the will of God, THAT will give us joy that is much better than doing our own will. There is no abiding joy outside of the will of God.

Proverbs 3:5: Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Proverbs 16:3: Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
